Nadia is a life-long Cambridgeshire resident, having grown up in St Neots and Huntingdon then studied at Cambridge University where she graduated from the vet school in 2014. She loves the local area and is proud to be a part of the community here.
At work Nadia likes the challenge of a tricky medical case and is particularly fond of feline patients, even the fiesty ones.
Since Nadia and Ben's son Fergus was born she has worked part-time. She loves walks with Rodney and Fergus and curling up with Marlene, the cat, to read a book. She also tries to crochet and is taking piano lessons to catch up with an old childhood ambition.

Ben graduated from Cambridge University in 2012. After a year working in North West London, he moved back up to Cambridgeshire where he has worked as a small animal vet ever since, apart from 6 months working in Australia in 2018. He has an interest in surgery and ultrasonography but enjoys all aspects of GP vet work. In particular, Ben thrives off building up a rapport with clients (and animals!) and working together with owners to reach the best possible care for their pets. Outside of work Ben enjoys cycling, reading, drawing, gardening and cooking. He once also had a dabble at ballroom dancing, but we won't dwell on that...

James began his career as a student veterinary nurse in 2012 and graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2015. After a year working in a busy small animal hospital in Milton Keynes he moved on to a position as an out of hours veterinary nurse in Northampton. After gaining a year of experience looking after inpatients and dealing with emergencies there, he left full time employment and moved to Cambridgeshire to work as a locum veterinary nurse in December 2016. Since starting work as a locum he has worked with over 20 veterinary practices across the UK and Australia. Locum work provides an amazing opportunity to gain experience in all areas of veterinary work. Over the course of his career James has gained a wide variety of experience but has developed particular interests in anaesthesia and analgesia, emergency and critical care, and in-patient care.

During a locum shift at a local practice James came across a stray cat called Zazu in need of some help. Zazu arrived at the practice with an infected wound and in desperate need of some nutrition and worming treatment. After two weeks of care, Zazu became a permanent part of the family. If Zazu isn’t outside sunbathing or herding hedgehogs he can be found on someone’s lap gently purring and enjoying a cuddle. Zazu is a bit of a foodie and has learnt several tricks including high five, spin and stand. Zazu also enjoys ‘helping’ James with the gardening, and supervising automotive restoration/modification and whatever project James happens to be working on in the workshop.

'Rodney is something of a mascot for the practice. He was born in 2014 and has lived with Ben and Nadia since a young puppy. He is a calming presence around the practice and is often so unobtrusive that you don't realise he is there. His interests include scrounging for leftover food and chasing squirrels.'

I am a keen animal lover and my entire working life has revolved around animals, whether that be from working with horses, formerly competing horses in dressage or through my career in veterinary practices.

Outside of work I enjoy long walks in the woods with the family dog, Finley, a big, bouncy, black Labrador retriever. We also have Cleo, a black cat who we adopted around 8 years ago.

When away from work I can often be found enjoying the Great River Ouse in or around the St Ives area with the family, we are all keen paddle boarders including Finley the Labrador.

I enjoy being able to meet clients, and their pets, often from when they are very young and watch them grow. Whilst clients wait for their consultation with Ben, Nadia or James I get to hear about their pets adventures since we’ve last seen them, something I love very much.

Sam has many years experience as a veterinary nurse in the small animal sector.

There was always a pet or two, or three, or more in the family home when Sam was growing up. From dogs & cats, to parrots & tortoises and even a few rescued birds to name a few.

Sam took a break from veterinary nursing in 2002 to work in the public sector for 12 years but her love of animals never left and so she returned to veterinary nursing in 2014.

Sam very much enjoys supporting and helping people with their pets and will be doing regular nurse clinics with us at Riverport Vets.

Outside of work Sam enjoys spending time with her husband and their 3 cats. Helping to care for a small flock of sheep and horse riding.

The last few years I was working for a local charity before move into client/animal care over a year ago. Having always had family dogs, cats and various small rodents throughout my life and loving all animals, it felt the perfect job which I am loving.

Away from work you will mostly find me with my family who keep me busy, at the gym, pottering in the garden pretending I know what I'm doing or in the kitchen cooking up new recipes to try out on my husband. I have two daughters who have played football from an early age and every Sunday, come rain or shine, you will find me on the side of a football pitch cheering them on.

I very much look forward to becoming a team member at Riverport and getting to know the clients and their animals over the coming months.
